NOTE:  New information received from an adoptive parent on May 3rd, 2006. Her email read:

I was given information from a yahoo group I belong that the Tongshan Welfare Institute on longer exists and has been combined with something else. Do you have any knowledge of this and how I can find out for sure? This is the info I received:

"I only have a little first hand knowledge on Tongshan. It is now part of the Xianning Prefecture and few, if any international adoptions come from there now.  We visited Xianning in the spring of 2004 and were told that only the original Xianning orphanage (now Xian'An) was doing international adoptions."

 

It has been an on-going challenge to try to secure the address for the Tongshan orphanage.

However, below are two addresses that have been given to various adoptive families. Letters have been sent to each address from the United States, but no responses have been received thus far. (However, the letters were not returned to the sender either.)

First address:

 

This first image is of the address (written in Chinese characters) that a Tongshan-adoptive family was given, saying it was the address for TongShan Social Welfare Institute. However, when a Chinese National in the United States translated it, he said that it did not contain the word "TongShan". Instead it translated:

China,
Hubei province,
Xianning city,
Xianan district,
Shehui Fu li yuan
President

So it is unsure whether it would truly get a letter to Tongshan SWI or not. (Perhaps there is someone at that address who will see that the item gets to Tongshan orphanage?)

 

2 nd Address:

 

[The English written part reads:

To: Jiao Nanzeng

Director of Tongshan Welfare Institute of Hubei Province

1 LinYuan Road, Tongshan County

Tong Shan City, Hubei, P.R. China   437600]

If anyone tries either of these two addresses and gets a response, please let us all know!  Or, if anyone receives another address through their adoption agency, please share with us!! !

Our own adoption agency told us that it is not possible to get the orphanage address.

If anyone can secure the correct address written in Chinese, and then scan it or take a digital picture of it, and email it to us, then anyone could print it out whenever they needed it and tape to their package.
